My name is Leah Abell. I am a 21 year old young woman who celebrates life everyday. I want you to know the person behind this smile. Cerebral Palsy is part of me, but please understand it doesn’t define my goals, experiences, and desire for connecting and loving people in my life.

Cerebral Palsy might be a disability, we don’t let that define us. We are just like any other person with our own unique details about each of us.

There are four kinds of cerebral palsy, spastic, athetoid, ataxic, and mixed.

I have spastic form, which means my muscles get tight and i jump people scare me. When people get scared and jump, it feels like a firecracker going back off in my whole body. Different things are harder for different people, it depends on how much movement they have in their body.

For me I can do a lot of things that I can do by myself. Like driving my chair, typing with one finger, etc. It might be a little harder and a little longer than normal for me to do stuff myself, if people just give me sometime I can do pretty much anything I want.

This is a picture of me loving life at a concert. I have been to a Taylor Swift and Jonas Brothers concert.

We have have emotions just like everyone else in the world, we might all show them in different ways but we all have emotions some way somehow. Positive vibes is key even on a rough day when you have CP because we are in pain a lot depending on the day we have.

I love quotes! I share those with others in hopes to inspire others to live a life full of happiness.

I will leave you with a final quote, “Love yourself first and everything else falls into line”

  1. Very positive!! I learned a lot about you and will try to pass this along. Don’t want to ever make you “jump”. So glad to know you. Keep up the good work of spreading positive quotes and understanding the facts of cerebral palsy.
