A book for special needs parents on how to navigate the beautiful, challenging and often unspoken uncertainty of raising both a neurotypical child along side a child with a disability.
Growing up with my big brother, Nick, who has a rare chromosomal disability, gave me a unique perspective on life as a special needs sibling. In this heartfelt memoir, I share my journey, offering a candid look at the emotional impact of being the neurotypical child in a family also raising a child with a disability.
This book delves into the complex emotions—guilt, embarrassment, hate, jealousy, and pride—that shape the experiences of siblings like me. Through personal stories and reflections, I aim to provide fellow siblings with a sense of resonance and understanding. But more importantly, this memoir is a guide for special needs parents, offering insights and actionable steps through my very own SEEDS strategy. This framework is designed to help parents support and nurture their neurotypical children, ensuring they too feel seen, valued, and understood.
